A 25 plus year veteran in the wine business, Veronica Litton began working as a wine consultant for Crown Wine and Spirits.
As store manager for the flagship Coral Gables location for the chain, Crown received many important accolades in the 1990s including “ One of the Top 10 Wine Shops in the U.S.A” by Wine and Spirits Magazine and the title of “Best Wine Shop” by Miami New Times Magazine three years running.
In 1996 she started a Ladies Wine Appreciation group in Coral Gables that is still active. The goal of the group is to empower women with the knowledge of fine wine. Promoting this group included luncheons and dinners with female winemakers and vineyard principals as well as travels to vineyard sites around the world.
Veronica acquired her CSW from the Society of Wine Educators in 2005. In her capacity as the Wine Director for Crown Wine and Spirits, a position she held from 2005 to 2017, her responsibilities included managing a multimillion-dollar inventory for 15 to 30 outlets. She selected and purchased over 2000 selections from around the world.
Dedicated to her career she travels extensively to the world’s vineyard. Spain has captured most of her attention with 19 trips to visit these vineyards, followed by Tuscany, Piedmont, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Loire, Rhone, Champagne, Alsace, California, Washington State, Oregon, Germany, South Africa, Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Portugal.
Veronica is a devoted wine educator as well, who for over a decade ran the chain’s Wine Education Certificate programs as well as Wine Seminars for consumers.
Veronica has been recognized for her work by the industry in many ways including the award of “Simply the Best” woman wine buyer for Italian wines awarded to her in Feb 2015 by the Italian Government in Miami.
Veronica Litton was recognized for her long-standing work and career by Marvin Shanken’s Market Watch magazine receiving the title as one of six” Industry Leaders” of 2015.
Among her most memorable encounters were spending time in the vineyards with Olivier Humbrecht, Miguel Torres Jr., Louis Fabrize Latour, Guillermo de Aranzabal from La Rioja Alta, Sebastian Zuccardi, Fernando Remirez de Ganuza and Mark Kent from Boekenhoutskloof in Franschoek, South Africa.
Her personal favorites include Rioja, Burgundy and bubbles from all over the world.
