In 2013 Larry Stone planted a vineyard in the heart of the finest zone in the Eola-Amity Hills. In very short time a dedicated group of people, among them Dominique Lafon, recognized the potential of the site and joined him in creating Lingua Franca winery. In the meantime, other wineries have taken heed. Within a short period of time he was joined by Veronique Drouhin, Barbara Banke, Ehren Jordan, Judy Jordan, viticultural soil specialist Pedro Parra, and Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, who purchased vineyard sites nearby in the Eola-Amity Hills. Larry will talk about the reasons for these developments that are making the Willamette Valley of Oregon one of the top spots in the world for the traditional Burgundy houses to explore and develop. Focus will be on the volcanic soil series of the Eola-Amity Hills and the wines of Lingua Franca and how Lingua Franca has achieved worldwide recognition in such a short period of time.
